The UK advertising regulator is investigating a complaint made against Microsoft’s claims concerning its cloud computing services.
According to The Register (opens in new tab), the Advertising Standards Authority has confirmed that it was investigating a complaint made against Microsoft’s claim that it guarantee's 99.9% uptime for its cloud computing services.
Microsoft’s Business Productivity Online Suite and its successor Office 365 have suffered a lot of outages in the past few months but that does not stop Microsoft from boasting about its platform.
“You can count on Microsoft, an industry leader in productivity, for reliability. Microsoft provides a financially-backed 99.9 percent uptime guarantee,” Microsoft says about Office 365.
“The complainant challenged whether the claim that Microsoft Cloud Power could achieve 99.9 per cent uptime was misleading and could be substantiated, because they believed that Microsoft's Cloud Service had not achieved that figure in the year to date,” the ASA said in a statement.
The ASA said that it would be some weeks before it publishes its decision while Microsoft, continues to maintain that its platform is best in the market and offers the best terms to customers when it comes to downtime.
