Vodafone Delivers Ideal iPhone 5 Lite Rival; A £240 Samsung Galaxy S

Vodafone is partnering with cashback company Quidco to deliver a Samsung Galaxy S deal for as little as £10.08 per month on a two year contract.

The phone comes with 100 minutes (opens in new tab), 100MB mobile internet data, 500 texts and 500MB BT Openzone Wi-Fi access and Vodafone says that the usual selling price is £31 per month although it has now been discounted to £13 per month..

Note that you need to be a member of Quidco and click through the dedicated link in order to get the deal. The Samsung Galaxy S was launched last year but is still a pretty capable device.

It comes with a large 4-inch AMOLED WVGA capacitive touchscreen, a 1GHz Cortex A8-based Samsung Hummingbird SoC, 512MB RAM, 8GB onboard storage, a microSD card slot, a five megapixel rear camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and runs on Android 2.2 Froyo (although it is upgradable to Gingerbread).

The iPhone 5 Lite or the 4GS is expected to be launched later this year and will almost certainly be a revamped version of the existing iPhone 4, possibly with less onboard storage.

The drop in price is a sign that Samsung has decided to clear out existing stocks of the Galaxy S to make way for the likes of the Galaxy S2 and the Galaxy S+ amongst others.
