iPhone 5 Launch Could Be Jeopardised By Samsung

We are apparently weeks away from the iPhone 5 launch and Samsung, being quite aware of this, is planning a fresh legal assault on Apple, hoping to put a block on sales of the fifth version of the iPhone.

In a report from the Korea Times somebody, purportedly from inside Samsung, revealed information about the planned attack on Apple.

However, the report only mentions that Samsung could manage to block the iPhone 5 launch in Korea, with no further information about the situation within other markets.

"Just after the arrival of the iPhone 5 here, Samsung plans to take Apple to court here for its violation of Samsung's wireless technology related patents," the "insider" from Samsung mentioned. "For as long as Apple does not drop mobile telecommunications functions, it would be impossible for it to sell its i-branded products without using our patents. We will stick to a strong stance against Apple during the lingering legal fights," he concluded.

The patent war between Apple and Samsung started in April when the American company was the first to sue Samsung. Since then, almost 23 lawsuits have been filed, with Apple being victorious in most concluded cases. Will Samsung manage to scupper iPhone 5 release this time?
