Even though the iPad 2 was only launched in March this year, there are many out there who are already anxious to get their hands on the third version of the highly-acclaimed tablet from Apple.
AllThingsDigital assures us that the iPad 3, if we can call it that, will not be launched this year, but most likely in the Spring of 2012, be it March (the iPad 2 release month) or April (the iPad release month).
Mark Moskowitz, analyst at J.P. Morgan says confidently that the iPad 2's successor will be released in 2012 and we shouldn't hope for a late 2011 iPad 3 + iPhone 5 release. "In recent months, there has been rising investor speculation that a new iPad 3 would be launched for the holiday season. Our latest research continues to indicate that there is no such device slated for production this year....There are prototypes in the supply chain related to the next-generation device, but our conversations with industry participants suggest that a new device will not be available until sometime in calendar 2012", Moskowitz commented.
And if you remember, Steve Jobs called it "the year of the iPad 2"; some can take that phrase in a metaphorical way, but really, there's no logic in putting effort into the next iPad, when the current device holds two thirds of the tablet market. And with Windows 8 coming soon, Apple needs to rethink their strategy once again.
