Social networking giant Facebook unveiled a new “ticker” service, aimed at allowing users to post real time comments, as well as at facilitating a news feed, designed to display the most important updates.
According to Mark Tonkelowitz, an engineering manager at Facebook, the news feed will be aimed at bringing out the most “interesting stories”.
Apparently, Mr. Tonkelowitz claims that the new news feed will be more like a news paper, and it will aim at deviating from the previous approach where all updates were shown in a chronological order, irrespective of their importance to the user.
"In the past, News Feed hasn't worked like that. Updates slide down in chronological order so it's tough to zero in on what matters most," Tonkelowitz wrote in a blog post.
He added by saying that the new news-feed will be "more like your own personal newspaper".
Meanwhile, new reports suggest that Mark Zuckerberg will also take the stage during an one-and-a-half hour long keynote, scheduled at around 10 am Pacific Time.
