Canon has partnered with Oracle to integrate its imaging technology with Oracle’s database and server products.
The companies both claim that Canon’s enterprise class imaging solutions will be combined with key Oracle platforms like Oracle Database, Oracle WebLogic Server, Oracle SOA Suite, Oracle WebCenter, Java Platform Micro Edition (Java ME), among others.
Oracles’ technology will be combined with Canon’s imaging solutions to develop a new platform based on the Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA). The platform will provide users with automated workflows for imaging and document processing.
Canon also plans to release printers and copiers along with the new platform, which will be compatible with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and CRM applications including Oracle Applications.
"This collaboration with Oracle will deliver significant benefits to our users," said managing director and chief executive of Office Imaging Products Operations, Canon Inc, Masaki Nakaoka.
"By combining Canon's imaging devices and technologies with Oracle software, Canon and Oracle can jointly develop new platforms and services through which we can expect to realise exciting new synergies. This collaboration will bring innovation to Canon's multifunction office systems as well as more opportunities for growth," he added.
