Following rumours about the social media giant Facebook’s alleged intentions of charging users for membership, the website has come up with a clarification, addressing all these speculations that have spread like a forest fire in the past few days.
Thrashing all the rumours, Facebook reassured all the worried users, saying that is not planning to introduce any paid-services, and that the platform will continue to remain free for everyone.
Such rumours are not unusual though, and they appear in some form or the other every time a major renovation is carried out in the platform.
These new rumours also started surfacing right after Facebook revamped its overall look, with the introduction of a few new features.
"THIS IS OFFICIAL… IT WAS EVEN ON THE NEWS… FACEBOOK WILL START CHARGING DUE TO THE NEW PROFILE CHANGES…” read a hoax message that was shared and promoted by many unsuspecting users though their status updates.
“IF YOU COPY THIS ON YOUR WALL YOUR ICON WILL TURN BLUE AND FACEBOOK WILL BE FREE FOR YOU. PLEASE PASS THIS MESSAGE ON, IF NOT YOUR ACCOUNT WILL BE DELETED IF YOU DO NOT PAY!!" it added.
According to the hoax messages circulating around users’ profiles, Facebook was planning to introduce three different memberships - $9.99 a month for Gold Member services, $6.99 for Silver Member services, and $3.99 for Bronze Member services.
