Viewer Tweets Save Two Contestants on 'The Amazing Race' from Elimination

Two participants in CBS TV’s massively popular reality show ‘Amazing Race’, were spared from being kicked off the show by a Twitter user.

Kaylani Paliotta and Lisa Tilley - one of the teams of the 19th season of the show were travelling through Southern California when Paliotta unknowingly left her passport in a gas station.

The camera crew travelling along noticed the terrible mistake, but could not just inform them as it is against the rules of the show.

Instead, the camera crew contacted the producers of the show at the very next stop - the Los Angeles International Airport.

“We were planning on eliminating this particular team. Because there was no way they were going to travel,” said Amazing Race host, Phil Keoghan, according to a New York Times blog (opens in new tab).

The host was reminded of another team that had been disqualified from the show a couple of years back due to a missing passport.

Ryan Storms, a Twitter user, who also happened to be in the same gas station, found Paliotta’s lost passport and tweeted the news. Another Twitter user who was following the developments, came across the tweet by Storms and made him return the passport to its lost owner.
