Chinese mobile maker ZTE has dished out its own branded smartphones in the UK with hopes of grabbing some market share from more established players.
The Android based Skate and Libra smartphones are being distributed by Brightpoint and are available from retailers like Amazon, Clove and Expansys.
The Android 2.3 Gingerbread based Skate comes with a 4.3 inch full touch screen, a 800MHz processor and a 5 megapixel autofocus camera. The device is available from Expansys for £229.99 SIM free.
The ZTE Libra is powered by Android 2.2 Froyo, 3.5 inch WVGA touch screen display with 480x800 pixels resolution and a 5MP camera with digital zoom, autofocus and geo-tagging capabilities.
“The Skate puts ZTE on track to become a household name in the UK, synonymous with high quality smartphones and tablets,” Wu Sa, ZTE UK director of mobile device operations said.
“Like the ZTE Blade, the Skate represents our commitment to producing higher-end smartphones and delivering an enhanced user experience at a competitive price to appeal to the mass market”, he added.
The company plans to become one of the top three mobile device makers in the world by 2015, something which ZTE is very confident about.
