Software powerhouse Adobe Systems Inc. announced on Monday that it has inked an agreement with Nitobi Software, a privately held company, commonly known for its products such as PhoneGap and PhoneGap Build.
PhoneGap is a massively popular open source platform which enables users to build cross platform mobile applications with Java Script and HTML5.
Adobe reveals that the deal with Nitobi will allow the company to use PhoneGap for providing developers with the choice of a pair of powerful solutions for cross-platform development of native mobile applications.
PhoneGap has registered over 600,000 downloads till this date and ample of applications for mobile phones developed for almost all the leading smartphone platforms including Android, iOS, BlackBerry etc. are already available.
"PhoneGap has proven to be an industry-defining app solution for HTML5 developers," Danny Winokur, vice president and general manager, Platform, Adobe, said in a statement.
"PhoneGap is a fantastic solution for developing a broad range of mobile apps using the latest Web standards, and is already integrated with Dreamweaver(R) CS5.5. It's a perfect complement to Adobe's broad family of developer solutions,” he added.
