Asustek CEO Denies Plans to Drop the Price of Its Eee Pad Transformer

Some market watchers’ have said that Asustek computers will drop the price of its tablet PC in the near future and also postpone the release of the second generation Eee Pad Transformer.

CEO of Asustek Jerry Shen has recently commented however that the company has no plans to bring down the price of the first generation Eee Pad Transformers and is going ahead with the launch of second generation Eee Pad Transformer, available for US$499.

Market watcher expectation was based on the fact that as RIM and High Tech Computer(HTC) reduced the prices of their tablet PC to lure customers, Asustek will also follow and drop the price of the first generation Eee Pad Transformer tablet which will eventually delay the launch of the second generation of the tablet, scheduled to be released soon.

For the current year, Asustek is firmly maintaining 1.5 to 2 million tablet PCs was its shipment forecast.

The CEO commented that there is improvement in the Android tablet PC market and with the launch of the Android 4.0 by the end of this year the Android should be able to satisfy market demands and also give competition to the Apple iPad.
