Family, Apple Board of Directors Mourn Steve Jobs Death

Steve Jobs, known for his innovations, mentorship, inspiring nature and more, has passed away at the age of 56.

His family issued a statement following his death: “Steve died peacefully today surrounded by his family.” The statement further read, “In his public life, Steve was known as a visionary; in his private life, he cherished his family.” According to his family, a website will be made available for those who want to pay their tributes.

Statement from The board of directors at Apple read, “Steve’s brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives”. It further read “Our hearts go out to them and to all who were touched by his extraordinary gifts.”

Tim Cook, the current CEO of Apple in a note to Apple staff stated, “Team, I have some very sad news to share with all of you. Steve passed away earlier today”. The note further read, “Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor.”

People were seen leaving flowers and candles at the memorial to Steve Jobs outside an Apple store in New York.
