Xbox Ruling the Gaming Console Market in the US Claims Analyst

In a note to the investors, Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter, said that September turned out to be another strong month for the Xbox 360 gaming console.

Pachter estimated that 360,000 units of the Xbox 360 were sold by Microsoft in the U.S. in the month of September easily leaving behind all other competitors. He further mentioned that PlayStation 3 came in the second place with 260,000 units sold in U.S. whereas Nintendo sold 190,000 units of its Wii series in the month of September reports CNET (opens in new tab).

If these estimations are correct then Microsoft is the seller of the most units of the gaming hardware in the month of September. In the US, it seems that the gaming consoles market is being ruled by Microsoft as of now. Microsoft in the month of August reported that it sold more units of the console in U.S. than any other company for 14 of the past 15 months.

This change in circumstances can be attributed to change of market position of Nintendo. Nintendo Wii was maintaining the top position in the consoles market that easily outnumbered the sale of any other console.

The current scenario, as it stands, shows that the appeal of Nintendo Wii is waning, at least in the U.S. and Xbox 360 has taken over every other gaming console available in the market.
