AMNews: 4G Tests Begin in Cornwall, Galaxy Wi-Fi Media Player, Samsung Galaxy S2 Wins 'Phone of the Year' Award

The 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) wireless technology tests have finally begun in Cornwall. With approximately 200 people from St Newlyn East and surrounding areas participating in this experimental program, the goal is to evaluate usability of the technology in rural locations.

Internet Service Providers (ISPs) within the country are claiming that the new ‘porn filter’ introduced by the UK government led by David Cameron will have little effect on an overwhelming majority of their customers.

Samsung has confirmed that it will be launching a Galaxy Wi-FI portable media player with a 5-inch display. Back in September, it announced a 3.6-inch model at the German IFA conference in Berlin and the device, which has yet to be shipped, is set to compete with the Apple iPod Touch range.

Samsung's Galaxy S2, a central figure in legal battle between Apple and Samsung, has won the "Phone of the Year" title at the T3 Gadget Awards, ahead of Apple's iPhone 4. The Galaxy S2 has won over the public and critics alike with its 1.2GHz dual core cpu, 8 MP camera, 1 GB of RAM and 4.3 inch Super AMOLED Plus screen.

Vodafone has slashed the upfront costs of the iPhone 4S handset ahead of the official launch, on Friday, of the iPhone 4S in the UK. The decision by Vodafone to cut the price of its own iPhone 4S deals comes after it noticed that others were significantly cheaper than its own.
