Apple Releases iTunes 10.5, iOS 5 Expected Later Today

Apple has released the iTunes 10.5 before the release of iOS 5 and before you get your hands onto your iPhone 4S.

The iTunes 10.5 has an iOS 5 update for iPhones, iPads and iPod touches. This update will help to do away with the need to tether the iPhone to a computer in order to sync it. The new updates will also enable Wi-Fi syncing between the iPhone and iTunes on a PC or Mac.

Apple has also added new iCloud features like the iTunes Match that will synchronize music on a user’s computer with iCloud storage, even the songs which are not purchased from the iTunes store can be synchronized this way. Once the music is in the iCloud the user will be able to download the music to any Apple device in which he or she is logged in. According to Apple, iTunes 10.5 also includes some security related enhancements as well.

iOS 5 that is expected later on today has features such as Wi-Fi syncing, more lock-screen options, the iMessage messaging service, integrated Twitter support, better accessible camera applications, etc.

The Mac and PC versions of the iTunes 10.5 can be downloaded from here (opens in new tab).
