AT&T 'Toggle' Eases Enterprise Mobile Device Management

Telecom giant AT&T is planning to launch a new application for enterprises which will enable employees in an organisation to bring their Android powered mobile devices without making device management too much of a nightmarish task.

The new application dubbed AT&R Toggle would allow a device to be set in either personal mode, or work mode. To the relief of the users, the activities in both these modes will be separate from one another.

While the personal mode can work almost unrestricted, the work mode is a lot stricter about security, and allows only approved apps to be run on the device. The data for each mode will be stored separately, thus leaving no scope for any confusion whatsoever.

AT&T also disclosed that this new system can be managed throughout an organisation via a centralised Web portal.

“Our customers tell us they want to allow people to use their own devices,” says Chris Hill, AT&T’s vice president of advanced mobility solutions, said, according to this (opens in new tab) Financial Times report.

“People want to use their own smartphones and tablets for work, but that practice can create major headaches for businesses’ IT departments,” he added. AT&T is planning to launch Toggle with support for other OSes in future.
