HP Goes Hollywood; Hugh Jackman Autographs Five TouchPad Tablets for Facebook Giveaway

A few weeks ago, HP decided to discontinue its not-so-popular HP TouchPad tablet, and as a stock-clearing offer, made available the WebOS powered device at a starting price of $99.

Needless to say, the sales-figure of the TouchPad surged almost exponentially, thus making the company overwhelmed by the response the tablet managed to bag in its last few days.

But HP’s generosity did not stop there. According to new reports, the company is offering the TouchPad as a Hollywood prize giveaway.

Apparently, the company plans to give away up to 20 units, five of which have been signed by the Hollywood star Hugh Jackman, to random people who “like” the Real Steel app on the HP Facebook page.

“The contest’s promotional period closes Oct. 21 and all entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. PDT. Winners will be randomly selected Oct. 26,” according to a Christian Post report (opens in new tab).

Real Steel happens to be the title of the latest movie featuring Hugh Jackman.

Meanwhile, reports are that the company could ship the final batch of the discontinued tablet around the same time as the drawing.
