Samsung, Google Sending Invites For Ice Cream Sandwich, Nexus Prime Launch?

Samsung and Google have sent the invites for an event in Hong Kong, in which the companies are expected to unveil the new Android Ice Cream Sandwich and the Nexus Prime.

According to BGR (opens in new tab), the tagline for the invite reads ‘Calling All First-to-knowers’ and has a picture depicting Android Ice Cream Sandwich at the bottom.

The highly awaited Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system is expected to unite the smartphone and tablet versions of Android on a single platform. In the event, the companies are also expected to remove the wraps from the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, which was previously known as the Nexus Prime. It is rumoured that the device is going to come with a 4.6 inch Super AMOLED screen.

The companies were earlier expected to launch the new operating system and device at an event during the CTIA conference in San Francisco. However, the event was cancelled due to the death of visionary Apple co-founder and former CEO Steve Jobs.

A Samsung spokesperson had said that the companies did not want to launch a new product when the world was grieving for Steve Jobs, claiming that the timing was inappropriate.
