Digital TV, or DTV platform FreeView, is all set to introduce its FreeView HD TV Guide app to iOS and Android powered tablet devices in the UK, according to new reports.
The app for the same service, targeted at the Apple iPhone, was unveiled more than a year ago in August 2010. The app, available as free download, includes an interactive TV guide, ‘share with friends’ and ‘top picks’ functionalities amongst other features. Users can use the app to save their favorites, as well as to make programme recommendations to their buddies.
The new FreeView for iPad and Android tablets can be downloaded from the iTunes Store as well as from the Android Market.
“Freeview aims to offer the best subscription-free TV service possible and the upgrade of our Freeview HD TV Guide app underlines this,” said Media Manager for Freeview, Adrian Mack, according to a DTG report (opens in new tab).
“We want as many of our viewers to be able to benefit from the new features, with the Android and tablet market opening doors to an even wider audience—as well as offering new features such as the personalised recommendations to new and existing users," he added.
