Google Docs down in cloud outage

Google Docs, the advertising giant's cloud-based productivity suite, has gone down world-wide with no explanation yet available for its sudden disappearance.

Google's Docs service has been working fine since a hiccough in a Dublin data centre left many of the company's cloud-based offerings high and dry, but an outage starting at around 14:40 this afternoon has left the company's customers unable to access their documents.

Thus far, Google has not responded to our query on the cause of the outage, but we will keep you informed as we learn more.

UPDATE 14:48:

Google Docs appears to be back on-line, albeit with a somewhat slower response time than is normal. monitors all leading technology stories and rounds them up to help you save time hunting them down.
