Social media giant Facebook claimed that it usually blocks anywhere between 250,000 to 600,000 daily hack attempts, targeted to jeopardise the security of its users.
According to the company, everyday the site witness near about 1 billion or more logins, of which, approximately 0.06 percent are compromised.
Keeping this daily heavy-dosage of hack attempts in mind, the company dished out a range of new security features including the likes of "Trusted Friends", in which users are prompted to name 3 to 5 buddies, to whom their login credentials can be sent to in case their Facebook accounts are compromised.
In addition, the site also took all necessary steps to ensure that third party app/services require separate passwords - a move which will spare the users the risk of using the same login credentials with every single app or services they use.
According to various reports, near about 50 percent of the total UK population today have their own Facebook IDs. The popularity of the social media is site is also soaring with every passing day -- currently it enjoys a fan base of more than 750 million users all across the globe, the number rising at a rapid rate.
