5 Million Copies of BattleField 3 Sold During Release Week

Battlefield 3 became the fastest-selling game in the history of EA when five million units of the game were sold worldwide during the first week of its release. This was reported by Electronic Arts on Monday.

Even though the company admitted server instability, they called it a minor glitch. The developers reasoning behind the problem, "intermittent disruption of online services due to high volume."

Battlefield 3 went on sale on October 25. Compatible with PS3, PC, and Xbox 360, it is a first-person wartime shooter game titled from Electronic Arts and DICE.

This game was launched a few days before Infinity Ward's call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, which will be released on November 8.

EA released some interesting data related to Battlefield 3, such as the players achieved landmark numbers of 73 million "savior kills", 67 million vehicles were destroyed and 48 million "revives" by medics.

This game also received 2.5 million likes in Facebook and 200,000 followers on Twitter.

Patrick Soderlund, Executive Vice President of the Label EA Games said, "From Tokyo to Los Angeles, Sydney to London, millions of fans have been playing all weekend long -- we are overwhelmed by the global response to Battlefield 3," as reported (opens in new tab) by PC Mag.
