Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) is partnering with SAP to offer a turnkey solution for SAP HANA. This will help them compete with Oracle's appliance strategy.
HDS made the partnership public this week. As per the partnership, High-Performance Analytical Appliance of SAP better known as HANA, is certified as well as optimised to make it operational on HDS's converged infrastructure solution. HDS said this infrastructure solution is capable of integrating storage as well as blade services.
This will result in making large volumes of data analysis easy, comfortable and convenient for the user operating SAP HANA, stated Senior vice president of global partners and alliance at HDS, Mike Walkey, as reported by CRN.
Walkey added, "This is a converged, trusted and certified offering available for rapid support of the HANA environment...It's pre-configured, and shipped as an appliance offering."
This new tie-up will successfully allow the two vendors to compete with Oracle. Oracle combines their software along with hardware, after they acquired Sun Microsystems last year, for a number of appliances designed for special purposes.
