Angry birds reaches half a billion downloads

Angry Birds, the addictive pigs's'poultry-flinging mobile game from Finnish software developer Rovio, has been downloaded a total of 500 million times.

The milestone makes Angry birds one of the most downloaded games in history, report our friends at OneMobileRing.

Angry birds is available on every major smartphone platform, as well as Google's Chrome OS, PC and Apple Mac OS, with titles including the original Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasons and Angry Birds Rio. The game's popularity has even spawned a range of fluffy toys, clothing and other merchandise.

"This is a fantastic landmark achievement for us, and we're extremely delighted to see such an incredible amount of people enjoying our games," said Mikael Hed, CEO of Rovio. "We remain committed to creating more fun experiences and bringing exceptional quality to Angry Birds Fans everywhere."

In total, humankind has now spent/wasted 200,000 years playing the game, with 300 million minutes of daily time devoted to the task.

Two hundred and sixty-six billion levels of Angry Birds have been notched up, with 400 million birds being launched and 44 billion stars collected.
