Multi-platform media streaming service Plex has launched an app for Google's struggling Google TV platform.
Plex Media server is capable of allowing users to upload and stream their entire media collection on a number of devices which carry its apps. Before this, the company provided Plex apps for Windows, Mac, iOS and Android.
In a blog post (opens in new tab), the company said that the Plex client for Google TV worked exceptionally well on the platform despite what everyone has been saying about it.
The client will contain similar Plex channels as in the Plex for Android app and users will be able to resume playback once they access the app on Google TV. Access to local media will be possible via Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection and Plex for Google TV app also comes with support for myPlex accounts.
"Overall we think Google TV offers up one of the best Plex client platforms out there in terms of functionality, speed and cost. It's an excellent choice for hooking up to that ridiculously large flatscreen in the living room, or the more modest one in the bedroom... But hey - Google TV is inexpensive enough - just get one device for each room!" the company wrote on the blog post.
