Call of Duty Elite service goes down

With the giant influx of players brought about by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, today's launch day for CoD Elite didn't go down as well as planned. Online for about 12 hours, the service is officially down as of a couple hours ago, with no news on when it's expected to be back up; though the company behind it, Beachhead, has said it's working on it.

At the time of writing, the official CoD Elite website reads:

We are proud to say that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has launched and millions of people are already playing online.

The point of CoD Elite is to keep track of Call of Duty stats across Black Ops and Modern Warfare 3, with potentially other games at a later date. The subscription service costs $49.99 USD per year which gives access to features such as free DLC, virtual and real-life prizes, sneak peeks at upcoming content and more.

For now, players that have signed up will see no stat information upon signing in to MW3, but it isn't expected to be down for long. monitors all leading technology stories and rounds them up to help you save time hunting them down.
