Activision's newest Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is all set to break all sales records which were set by its predecessor. Media outlets are reporting a massive anticipation of the new game among gamers with many reporting huge queues outside stores.
Online retail giant Amazon has announced that Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 has become the most pre-ordered game in history, surpassing Call of Duty Black Ops by 32 percent more pre-orders.
"The 'Call of Duty' series has performed consistently well with both 'Black Ops' and 'Modern Warfare 2' previously holding the all-time pre-order record," said Liz Hosmer, video game manager at Amazon.
"This year has seen the release of a raft of great titles with 'Battlefield 3' anticipated as a strong contender to 'Modern Warfare 3' but the latest offering in the 'Call of Duty' series is the most popular title of the year to date by some distance." she said.
Black Ops, which was released last year, sold 20 million units in the six weeks it was launched and generated £600 million in revenue.
Meanwhile, it has been revealed by Chacko Sonny (opens in new tab), Studio Head, Beachhead Studio that millions of gamers are already playing the game online and soon, a definite figure would be released.
