Cloudera and NetApp have announced a strategic Hadoop partnership in order to take on rival EMC.
Under the partnership, the companies said that enterprise storage provider NetApp will provide Cloudera's Apache Hadoop platform along with its enterprise management software.
Cloudera, on the other hand, will support NetApp's Open Solution for Hadoop, which is expected to be launched in December. The solution will come with NetApp E-Series Storage platform and the FAS platform.
The announcement comes sometime after Cloudera rival EMC revealed its partnership with MapR Technologies, which allowed EMC to enter the Hadoop enterprise support business.
"Customers are looking for business advantages from the wealth of their unstructured data. Today, it's like finding a needle in a haystack," said Rich Clifton, senior vice president and general manager, NetApp Technology Enablement and Solutions Organization reports Information Week.
"NetApp Open Solution for Hadoop will help customers get answers fast and process more, as well as provide the reliability and performance that our customers have come to expect from NetApp", he added.
Hadoop is an open source big data analysis and management platform, which, with its scalable working environment, has garnered the interest of leading industries the world over.
