AMNews: Google Panda Freshness Update, SIM Free Nokia Lumia 800, Finland Data Leak, Gnome 3 Development

As for previous Google Panda updates, analyst firm SearchMetrics has published yet another list of winners and losers from the latest algorithm change, one that is called Freshness and is said to have affected up to 35 per cent of all searches.

News has reached us via online retailer Clove Technology that Nokia will not be selling SIM Free Nokia Lumia 800 in the UK until January 2012. According to a blog post, the phone which can be had for £400 on PAYG at Three, will still be launched in the UK on the 16th of November with a contract and will be available from selected stores.

This past Saturday, the Finnish government discovered a data leak that involved uploading personal details of almost 16,000 people on a file-sharing website. In Finland, this is the largest incident of data leak to date. The matter is being investigated by the Finnish National Bureau of Investigation.

The Linux Mint development team has decided to move the next version of the popular open source platform to the Gnome 3 desktop environment. In a blog post, the Linux Mint team said it believes that Gnome 3 is the future of Linux Mint, but it also recognises that it is a huge plan to execute.

iPhone maker Apple has updated the Apple Store iOS app to let people initiate self check-outs and set-up self pick-ups. The version 2.0 of the Apple Store app for the iPod Touch, iPad and the iPhone brings these new features to make shopping at the Apple Store much easier.
