Today, Symantec declared free assessments for vulnerabilities for Extended Validation Secure Sockets Layer (EV SSL) as well as Premium and also Secure Site Pro certificate customers.
With this latest service, Symantec is going beyond SSL to provide help to instill confidence in different websites, safeguard sensitive information of customers as well as protect various valuable brands, as reported (opens in new tab) by The Wall Street Journal.
Since its launch in October, in less than three weeks, Symantec has already scanned about 2,000 websites to find critical vulnerabilities. These are vulnerabilities that allow hackers to upload malware or allow direct access to confidential data of customers. Half of the scanned sites had vulnerabilities which customers can fix quickly.
Vice President of Identity and Authentication Services, Symantec, Fran Rosch, said, "Hackers and cybercriminals are constantly refining their attacks and targets; our customers are asking us for agile tools to stay ahead of them," as reported The Wall Street journal.
She added, "Steps such as offering free vulnerability assessments with EV SSL, Premium and Secure Site Pro certificates show our commitment to protecting customers and the online community as a whole."
