One online retailer, Prepaymania, has shaved almost £25 off the Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100 compared to the next cheapest offer at Amazon, possibly the strongest indication yet that the S2 is being discounted to make way for new models.
The smartphone is available for £373 and is SIM free and unlocked. It comes with a dual core processor clocked at 1GHz, has 1GB RAM, 16GB onboard storage, a microSD card reader, a 4.3-inch WVGA Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, an eight megapixel camera with full HD recording, a front facing two megapixel camera, Android 2.3 Gingerbread and Samsung's own TouchWiz UI 4.0.
Other features include Bluetooth, USB, Wi-Fi, HSDPA, TV Out and even an advanced onboard image and video editor.
At 116g and 8.5mm thick, it is one of the lightest and thinnest phones on the market yet. At that price, the device is around a quarter cheaper than the iPhone 4S and significantly cheaper than the iPhone 4 which now comes only with 8GB onboard storage.
The Galaxy S2 has been superseded already by the new Samsung Galaxy Note, the Galaxy Nexus and the Galaxy S2 HD, all of which will come to the market by the year's end.
