On Friday, software giant Microsoft initiated a promotional campaign to inspire Windows 7 users to use Internet Explorer 9 (IE 9). The users, who installed the latest browser from Microsoft, can "pin" any seven different web sites on the browser's taskbar via which the user will receive interesting and lucrative offers.
Some of such offers were made available immediately, whereas, other offers will be launched by the end of this month or during next month, as per reports published in Computer World (opens in new tab).
The feature of pinning has been introduced for the first time on Internet Explorer 9 which gives the facility to the users to add website shortcuts on the Windows 7 taskbar that ensure easy access as well as availability as any locally-stored program.
Microsoft is putting every effort to make sure that IE 9 is marketed properly and in the process they are calling it as the "best browser" for Windows 7. As per a web metrics company, Net Application, IE 9 is running on 22.5 percent of the browsers operating worldwide on Windows 7 on the month of October, which means, an increase by 1.4 percent from last month, Computer World reported.
