Toshiba Protege Z835 Is Lightest Ultrabook Yet

The Toshiba Protege Z835 Ultrabook will be exclusively available at Best Buy in the US for $899, making it competitive with the likes of the Acer Aspire S3. No release dates have yet been hinted for the UK and the rest of the world.

That is significantly cheaper than the Apple MacBook Air and the Asus Zenbook UX31 Ultrabook but somehow, Toshiba managed to include a dual core Intel Core i3 CPU clocked at 1.4GHz, 4GB RAM and a decent 128GB SSD, a 13.3-inch display with a 1366x768 pixel resolution and a great design.

According to Laptopmag (opens in new tab), which reviewed the device, it also surpasses other competitors by providing plenty of ports, a proper backlit keyboard which is also spill resistant, a long battery life and an accurate touchpad, which the reviewer says is "one of the most comfortable and accurate on any notebook".

The laptop is also much smaller and thinner than the MacBook Air and the Asus ZenBook UX31, two of the main competitors of the Protege Z835.

It comes with a USB 3.0 port, a kensington lock, VGA, HDMI out, a SD card reader, Ethernet port, USB 2.0, SD card reader and a 1.3-megapixel webcam.
