Toys R US Designs Children's Android Powered Tablet PC

Popular US toys retail chain, Toys R US, has designed a new tablet PC device aimed at children, just ahead of the holiday shopping season.

Designed for children aged six years and above, the Nabi tablet is an Android based device that comes with a 7-inch 800 x 480 touch screen display, 4GB of on-board memory and is powered by the 533MHz dual-core Cortex-A9 CPU.

Nabi also comes with support for Wi-Fi and even has a front facing camera. The tablet is capable of playing HD videos at 1080p as well.

The device is not high on specifications, but its user interface has been designed to appeal to kids, providing a fun web browsing and app using experience.

The Nabi tablet also comes with its own Nabi App Store, which will allow kids to download more than 500 apps designed for children. The tabletcomes pre-loaded with the Design Studio portal which gives children access to 30 apps that can be used for drawing and painting. The tablet comes with access for 30 ebooks designed for children, according (opens in new tab) to Engadget.

Priced at $200, the device also comes with a ‘Mommy Mode' which allows parents to work on the tablet as well, with a user interface designed to be used by adults.
