Halo 4, the upcoming game in the popular franchise, will not be released for Microsoft's yet-to-be-announced Xbox 720 gaming console.
According to a postmade by Halo franchise director and 343 chief Frank O' Conner, the new game will be launched on the Xbox 360 platform.
"Halo 4 will be on Xbox 360 and use a modified core of the Halo engine(s). Not really a singular engine since it goes through fairly radical evolutions all the time," Conner wrote on the NeoGaf forum.
343 had released a teaser for Halo 4 at the E3 conference, giving rise to speculation that the company's reluctance to reveal more about the game was because Microsoft plans to make it the flagship game when it launches the rumoured Xbox 720 platform.
Naturally, gamers are disappointed to know that Halo 4, Microsoft's flagship game, will not be released on the all-powerful Xbox 720, whose existence is still questionable.
Gamers and the publishing industry believe it is time for Microsoft and Sony to introduce a new level of gaming by launching new gaming consoles. However, both companies remain secretive about any plans for upcoming gaming consoles.
