iPhone 4 Rival Alert : HTC Radar Down To £290

The HTC Radar is only a few months old and yet this Windows Phone handset has already seen its price slashed by more than a quarter during that period.

Carphone Warehouse is now selling it for £289.95 down from its original selling price of £399.95; handsets carried by CPW are normally unlocked and unbranded.

The device, which carries a "premium metal design" like the Legend, comes with Xbox LIVE, Zune and Microsoft Office Mobile as well as a slew of other new features and improvements brought in by Mango.

Inside though, the Radar (opens in new tab)is quite similar to previous Windows Phone handsets from HTC; having the same screen resolution (800x480 pixels) and the same processor (Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255 clocked at 1GHz).

Other features include 512MB RAM, a 3.8-inch display, a five-megapixel camera with F2.2 lens, LED flash and BSI sensor for panoramic shots, a secondary camera and up to seven hours talk time on 3G.

At £290, it costs almost a third less than the iPhone 4. The latter is superior though when it comes to screen resolution and onboard storage capacity. Compared to other first generation Windows Phone handsets, it is still far more expensive.
