The market is full of rumours about the next-gen Xbox that keep on appearing on the web at regular intervals. The latest rumour is that many people were wondering if Halo 4 can be a perfect title for the launch of the new next-gen console, which, according to speculations made by analysts, will be available sometime in 2012.
But, most likely this rumour regarding Halo 4 is false. The Franchise Director of 343 Industries Frank O'Connor recently posted on NeoGAF's (opens in new tab) forum that, "Halo 4 will be on Xbox 360 and use a modified core of the Halo engine(s) [...] Not really a singular engine since it goes through fairly radical evolutions all the time."
This post also indicates that Microsoft is not willing to share any more details about the next-gen console.
Halo 4 was announced through a cinematic trailer at the E3 press conference this year. The announcement did not reveal anything about its platform which led to the rumours that this game probably can be the new console launch title.
O'Connor statement came just before the release of Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary. Halo 4 will be launched next year; however, the creative director left 343 industries to set up his own studio in September.
