MW3 Breaks Previous 5-day Entertainment Gross Records, Makes $775 Million

Activision declared that its latest release Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 broke all the previous records for five-day entertainment gross.

Within the first five days of its release this game earned $775 million globally and in the first 24 hours of the launch it sold nearly 6.5 million copies. The latest game in the Call of Duty game was released on 8th November.

Previously, the holder of first five day record was Call of Duty: Black Ops released last year and earned $650 million in those first five days, reported Times LIVE (opens in new tab).

The latest Call of Duty game has been released in different versions and configurations by Activision. Earlier, the two previous versions of the game Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops were available in three forms standard ($59), Hardened ($79) and Prestige editions ($149) for Xbox 360 and PS 3.

In case of the Modern Warfare 3, the Prestige tier has been removed and an expensive $99 Hardened edition has been introduced which has $49 Call of Duty Elite's complementary yearlong subscription and some other goodies.
