According to the latest Flickr stats, the iPhone 4S has managed to top its rivals when it comes to smartphone camera popularity.
Apple's newest handset, which has only been out for just over a month, is kept from top position by the iPhone 4, with a big gap to other competitors including: iPhone 3G, 3GS and HTC EVO 4G.
According to Flickr, the data provided, which does not come from a typical survey but is detected automatically, accounts for about two thirds of the pictures posted on the website. The information about camera usage among Flickr members is translated into comprehensive and unbiased graphs that are changing constantly, Cnet reports.
The only thing that could alter the results would be the absence of metadata in some smartphone cameras, which could lead to brands being under represented in the final graphs.
The iPhone 4 camera is actually the most popular camera overall on the popular photo-sharing website, coming ahead of top-selling cameras such as the Nikon (D90) and Canon (EOS 5D Mark II, EOS REBEL T2i, EOS 7D).
The iPhone 4S camera was recently put to the test against some popular digital cameras in a comparison by ARS Technica, and fared pretty well.
