US President Barack Obama's 2012 re-election campaign team has opened an account on the Google+ social networking platform.
The Obama for America page has been +1'd by 6,235 as of this writing and the number is expected to increase significantly as 2012 comes nearer.
"Welcome to the Obama 2012 Google+ page. We're still kicking the tires and figuring this out, so let us know what you'd like to see here and your ideas for how we can use this space to help you stay connected to the campaign," the very first post on the page read.
As of now, there are only two other posts on the page, one which tells people what the president is doing to create more jobs and another which shows some of his supporters having dinner with him.
Obama is already on Facebook and Twitter, having 24 million ‘friends' and around 11 million ‘followers' respectively.
According to 9to5Google, other politicians are also active on Google + including Republican candidate and former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, who is using Google Hangouts to conduct video conferencing with his supporters and spread his message.
