Konami Enhances Security of Its Online Games through DIGIPASS Integration

Konami, as a precautionary measure, is stepping up its security to avoid any threat that might affect its operations and business as a whole.

VASCO Data Security International Inc. made an announcement today that Konami Digital Entertainment Co. Ltd. is planning to integrate DIGIPASS technology to increase security for their online gaming as well as online shopping services.

Konami Digital Entertainment Co. Ltd., which is a leading publisher, developer as well as manufacturer of electronic entertainment properties and a specialist in home video game market, is "wholly-owned" subsidiary company of Konami Corporation.

Konami, earlier implemented VASCO's VACMAN Controller authentication back-end software combined with DIGIPASS technology that allows its customers to logon to Konami's online services securely, reported Market Watch (opens in new tab). VASCO Data Security International Inc. is a software security company specialised in authenticating products.

Mitsuhiro Masanobu, director of IT studio centre at Konami, stated that, "By implementing leading authentication security we not only gain a competitive advantage......We turned to VASCO as they have a proven experience in the gaming industry.

The director added that, "VASCO's DIGIPASS authenticators offered us the flexibility and scalability to support our vast international customer base without negatively impacting the gaming experience."
