Bitdefender releases first Android OS security app

Popular maker of security software Bitdefender has released Bitdefender Mobile Security, with smart antivirus and web based security measures for Google OS run devices.

Bitdefender's software defends against malware and other online threats, with this being their first security product for the Android market.

Bitdefender Mobile Security is based on the company's in-the-cloud technology, coupled with the years protecting against e-threats.

The software has features such as: an application audit that keeps an eye on the permissions of installed applications; an anti-theft aspect that allows users to track down a lost or stolen device, along with a web security module that alerts the users to threats such as phishing or malware on web pages.

Bitdefender has more than 120,000 beta testers, which aids in steadily updating the Android security app that also lightens the load on both the device's battery and operating system.

The anti-theft and web security features of the software are only available in the premium version, which has a cost attached of £6.95 - whilst the free version has the app and on demand scanning, with the application audit feature still being available too for Android ‘Froyo' 2.2 or later.
