What looks like the official render of the Sony Ericsson Nozomi has been leaked on Chinese website it.168.com.
The picture shows an extremely thin rectangular white-coloured handset that will apparently be Sony Ericsson's first dual core handset with full HD video recording capabilities.
The handset, which is also known as the LT26i, is likely to have a 12-megapixel camera with Ice Cream Sandwich, Sony Ericsson's own Timescape user interface and a 1280x720 pixel HD capacitive touchscreen.
Sony Ericsson's most recent handsets are no match for the dual core competition that has been swamping the market lately and forced Sony Ericsson to review its pricing strategy.
This has meant for example that the Xperia Play has seen its price slashed by around two thirds to £150 in a bid to clear out existing stocks.
The cheapest dual core handset on the market is probably one of the best as well; the HTC Sensation can be had for less than £299 unlocked and comes with a dual core processor and a WVGA 4.3-inch display.
Sony purchased the remaining part of the Sony Ericsson JV in October 2011 in a bid to regain control of the struggling smartphone manufacturer.
