At last the handheld Nintendo 3DS has started generating some market buzz as well as revenue for its parent company. In the last eight months Nintendo 3DS sold more units as compared to DS.
In an interview with Time magazine, Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America president confirmed that, "In sales through this past 8 months it has outsold the full 12 months of the original DS. During that 12 month's time, the original DS sold 2.37 million and we just surpassed that this past Saturday."
Post its launch, 3DS, due to high cost, had to face some resistance in the game console market. Besides, the price there were few other issues in terms of hardware, funny yet paranoid rumours that the 3DS turns people's eyes into streaming "yogurt-mush" and also lack of good quality titles effected the console adversely during the first few months of its launch.
The company, recently, cut down $80 from its price and also added few new decent titles to attract consumers. In fact, the classic Super Mario 3D Land seems to have worked well for the reincarnation of this game, reported Escapist Magazine.
Incidentally, DS happens to be the most successful product of Nintendo and also the second best selling gaming console of all time.
