Game publisher Rockstar Games announced its plans to release a tenth anniversary edition of Grand Theft Auto III for iOS and Android based smartphone devices.
The GTA III tenth anniversary edition will be available on iOS and Android beginning next week for £2.99.
The game, launched in 2001, became an instant hit with its ‘open world' game play that allows users to explore every nook and cranny of the game world, reports Tech Radar.
The company plans to launch GTA V; unveiled in October with a trailer launched in November. Rockstar has not given a proper release date for the game, but it is expected the company will release the game in late 2012 or early 2013.
Rockstar said the game will be available for Apple's iPad 1 & 2, iPhone 4 & 4S, iPod touch 4th Generation devices. For Android users, the game will be available for HTC Rezound, LG Optimus 2x, Motorola Atrix 4G, Motorola Droid X2, Motorola Photon 4G, Samsung Galaxy R, T-Mobile G2x.
The tenth anniversary version will also be available for Android based tablets including Acer Iconia, Asus Eee Pad Transformer, Dell Streak 7, LG Optimus Pad, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 and 10.1, Sony Tablet S, and Toshiba Thrive.
