After the Samsung Nexus, the Huawei Honor will get the latest version of Android operating system, the Ice Cream Sandwich.
In a very unusual move Huawei is releasing a "demo" version of the Ice Cream Sandwich ROM for Honor. This demo version will have instructions regarding how to revert back to Gingerbread in case the previous version is more desirable, reports The Verge.
The latest smartphone will make its debut during the fourth quarter in Asia. The Huawei Honor U8860, also called Glory, is a lower priced device designed for those on a budget.
The demo version of the Ice Cream Sandwich operating system will be supported by a 1.4 GHz processor. The device has an 8 megapixel camera and massive battery life. With Honor, the company is looking for a breakthrough in the western market.
The company, traditionally a telecom equipment maker, is expanding its business line to cover mobile devices. Huawei mobile and smartphones have a healthy demand in Asian markets and the company is looking to make the same impact in the North American and European markets.
The demo version of the operating system is available for downloading on the official product page of the Huawei Honor.
