Skyrim Tops UK Sales Charts

Modern Warfare 3 has dropped to second place on the UK game sales charts, topped by the dragon slaying, open world RPG Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Taking pole position means that some other poor sot has lost its crown and that's the king of FPS shooters, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 which now slips to second - with third place holder Just Dance 3 hot on its heels.

This new crowning - reported by Games Industry (needs free sign up) - has been put down to a price drop that Skyrim saw in the past week, with popular retailers like Amazon now selling it for as little as £22 on consoles - the PC version costing just a couple of quid more. However it's not like this RPG wasn't selling well before, shifting some 3.5 million copies in just a couple of days after release. This pushed it to 5th on the top sales list last week - though of course 1st place is a little more impressive.

This is despite the seemingly unending number of Skyrim bugs too, including backwards flying dragons, mammoths falling from the sky, the fact you can rob anyone as long as you put a bucket on their head and more. However, it does seem like the PS3 lag has been addressed by Bethesda, so some of the earlier flaws have been expunged, though new ones seem to pop up with each patch.

Bugs or no though, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is now king of the pile of UK game sales and looks likely to stay there with the Christmas period continuing for another couple of weeks. monitors all leading technology stories and rounds them up to help you save time hunting them down.
