One of the major US retailers is backing Apple's predictions of an all time sales record this holiday season, as Best Buy representatives see a strong demand for iDevices, with the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 taking the lead, Apple Insider reports.
Brian White, a Ticonderoga Securities analyst, predicted at Best Buy's quarterly earnings conference call that this shopping season would be dominated by iOS devices and already proclaimed it "an Apple holiday season."
The news is not at all surprising, given the latest iPhone 4S' massive popularity, and the numerous studies revealing customers' loyalty to the Apple brand. In addition to the tablet market, dominated by the iPad, leading to huge growth year-on-year, the iPhone 4S phenomenon is also boosting Best Buy sales.
The latest iPhone has become even more in demand since the retail chain improved its inventory, according to White. While Apple devices are doing more than well at Best Buy, other products such as TV sets and notebook PCs have lost their momentum, and sales have dropped.
Dell and Hewlett-Packard were the most affected notebook manufactures. However, when it comes to PCs sales, despite the fact that Apple often has a dedicated sales area instore, it represents just 22% of PCs sold at Best Buy, behind the leader Dell with around a half, and HP.
