Pre-orders for the highly awaited Asus Transformer Prime tablet device have commenced for the UK.
The Android based tablet gets its name because it transforms into an Android powered netbook when docked with a keyboard.
The device is available for pre-order from various UK based retailers like Amazon, PC World, Currys, Carphone Warehouse, e-Buyer and Asda for £499 with the docking keyboard, as reported by TechRadar.
The Asus Transformer Prime is the successor to the Asus Ees Pad Transformer and will come with Google's Android 3.2 Honeycomb, which was released only for tablets. However, Asus has confirmed that the device will receive an upgrade to the new Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich early next year.
The tablet/netbook is powered by the Nvidia quad core Tegra 3 processor which has 3 times better graphics than the Tegra 2 and 61 percent better power consumption.
The device has a massive battery life of 12 hours with HD video and 18 hours when attached to the keyboard. It also comes with a decent 10.1-inch LED screen with a resolution of 1280x800. The Transformer Prime also features 32 GB of storage built-in.
