Apple App Store is generating six times the revenue earned by rival Google's Android market when it comes to the top 200 grossing titles of both online app stores.
The data was compiled by the research and analysis outfit Distimo as a part of its January to November report for the running year.
According to the study carried out by Distimo, Windows maker Microsoft's mobile download portal has thrashed Nokia's OVI Store as well as Research In Motion's BlackBerry App World for games within the same period.
With that impressive growth, Microsoft's app store has emerged as the fourth largest in that category, as reportedby SlashGear.
Apparently, as claimed by the Distimo study, Windows Phone Marketplace enjoyed an overwhelming 400 percent growth during 2011, thus reducing the gaps between itself and other rivals in the market such as Apple App Store and Android Market.
Amongst the most sought after apps from various categories, Rovio's massively popular title Angry Birds made its way all the way to the top of the list, followed by the likes of Facebook and Skype. Google Maps, on the other hand, was featured in the fifth spot in the list.
